Imagine a world of people who have sauntered straight out of the pages of the books kept in the library.
I would probably have Noddy with his floppy hat delivering me milk in the morning, a very grouchy Scrooge who dishes out my ticket in the bus, a cheerful and bumble eyed Mr Weatherbee as my boss and have a diet conscious, cheesy Bridget Jones sitting next to me in the office..
Though this view of the world stretches one's imagination, it is surprising how many a person I meet conjures an image of a character in a book and almost comfortably fits into it.For instance, when reading The Pickwick Papers, I comfortably slotted my paunchy neighbourhood uncle who keeps bustling around as Mr Pickwick and ran the entire book in my mind as a movie reel featuring him. When reading The Little Women, I had my own picture of Jo ,the tomboy painted in my mind and on coming across a short haired girl who had a miraculous resemblance to the picture in my mind, i exclaimed to myself-' She looks like Jo!'
And then, there are other characters in books which leave a dying impression.Atticus from To Kill A Mocking bird and Dagny Taggart from Atlas Shrugged are two that come to my mind. Dagny with her larger than life character portrays the career woman in refreshing, untouched upon hues.
The real life and books are entrapped in a vicious cycle in my mind. And I am beginning to sound like Marvin ,the paranoid android!
